Hopped Up – European Hot Rod Culture : Exhibition

Got a slight deviation from our standard operating procedure today. And it’s one for the Londoners on board. As per the title of the post really, though I’ve copied the text direct from the Proud Galleries website, as they did a great job wrapping up the backround for this highly recommended exhibition :

Be sure to head down to Proud Camden’s South Gallery between 25th February and 11th April 2010 to view Hopped Up, the first exhibition to taken from David Biene’s sell-out book by the same name. Exploring European Hot Rod culture through beautiful fine art photography, this exhibition documents life from the garage to the race track and all that lies in between. Experience the iconic rockabilly style of the ‘40s and ‘50s for one month only – don’t miss out.”

Check it out when next you’re in town. Limited edition prints can be bought from the gallery or online via the Proud Galleries link below, with T-Shirts available from David Biene’s own Hopped Up website. All links below!

And of course no post would ever be featured without a musical link of some sorts, and so today I’ve selected this appropriately titled little Rock n’ Roll instrumental from King Curtis.

Great original 1958 full length video below. It’s a bit of a departure from the street rod scene, and focuses instead on the official National Hot Rod Association 1/4mile racing. FYI – European Nationals will be on at Santa Pod raceway around the end of May! I myself have been before and it’s a cracking day out. Bring some ear plugs though!
